In this unit, the students will begin by learning about living things. They will learn what it means to be classified as a living thing and begin to observe plants and animals in their environments. They will also learn about adaptations and how plants and animals survive in their environment. In the planning and research stage, the students will research and write an informational writing piece all about the plant or animal of their choosing. After learning from their peers about a variety of plant and animal adaptations, the students will choose one adaptation to inspire an invention to solve a human problem. This unit will culminate with the students presenting their inventions in your own version of Shark Tank.
